Happy birthday, Lewis Latimer

Lewis Howard Latimer (1848-1928) was an African American inventor who worked as an assistant to Alexander Graham Bell.  He improved upon Edison's lightbulb by inventing the carbon filament.  He also published a technical engineering handbook for lighting engineers, called Incandescent Electric lighting, and helped Bell draw up his patent for the telephone.
