Originally, the Mayans were in use of three different kinds of calendars. However, only the Long Calendar is supposedly ending in 2012. Some people have translated ending of this calender as ending of the world which is a great misconception. It is undeniable that there might be both physical and spiritual transformation of some sort, but ending of this calendar does not symbolize ending of the world.
If ending of this calendar symbolizes end of the world, then the world would most likely have started in 3000 BC, when this calendar started. Everyone knows that this is not true since 2012 is just the end f a Bak’tun which is a kind of Mayan Measurement. The calendar is only ending since the measurement is ending next year.
So if the calendar will reach its end, is that adequate reason for believers to start watching the sky and cleansing their beliefs in preparation for the end of the world? There is no straight answer for this question as there shall be changes but of which will not bring the end of the world, at least to many people.
Back in 1999, there was a strong belief that the world was going to end. This belief was especially strong among religious rulers. A lot of people freaked out such that they committed suicide just to avoid witnessing the end of the world.
A repeat of the same occasion might happen in Dec 21, 2012. For those who will be strong enough to see the end, the religious leaders might put poison in the sacrament to kill them so that they cannot discover the truth. This will not be very strange as Jim Jones did that in Guiana tragedy.
For the rest of the people, they can only have hope that the long calender will in deed come to an end and as it gets finished there will be another kind of passage that will begin. There is likelihood that a new era shall begin by 2012. This era will be composed of spiritually enlightened Christians. After the incidence, Christians might realize that not even the church is perfect. Conversely, it can be just a way of the Church to get more followers.
The sky watchers have been keen staring at the sky in anticipation of getting answers from heavens. A great effect emanating from the sun is expected to be experienced with flares and sun spots moving from the down point to the upwards point. The upwards cycle normally happens every after about every 11 years but this time the upwards cycles are expected to be the strongest cycles like they have never been before.
The sun rays movement and planets’ alignment is making people to wonder whether there is connection between the Mayan calendar and the cosmic space. In case the sky watchers and what the calendar is saying its true, then you are likely going to die. There is no need of freaking out. Gather your courage and prepare yourself spiritually for the end of the time instead of running about scared. Spend time with people you love and try to help them prepare spiritually for the end of times.
